A brief, not too in depth analysis of the playoffs – I would like to hear from other non participants

Jim vs Greg

Not certain if home field advantage makes a difference… too many wild cards have been winners (and Steve and I had the classic all road team win series in 2012)

Jim’s team:
Relatively poor offensive team that almost had the lowest team HR total in SL history
Good starting staff with decent ratings in the pen although low available innings.
Team Defense is decent although Posey and the +2 is the only ‘regular’ catcher in the playoffs that is not +5 or greater. He is supplemented by Hanigan +6 late in games (J3!)
Will the low relief inning availability be the achilles heel for this team?

Greg’s team:
President’s cup winner!
Good offensive team – very on base heavy offense. A smattering of base stealers within the regular lineup.
Below average starting staff with decent ratings in the pen with plenty of available innings.
Team Defense is excellent. Victor Martinez does have to start (& finish) one of the first four for Greg
Will one game of the crappy catcher be the achilles heel for this team?

I am giving the nod to Greg in this one --- just not enough there with Jim’s team and the lack of available innings in pen may be the difference. Greg in 6

Gregg vs Chris

Two 82 win teams. I like both of these teams --- and would have enjoyed managing an entire season with either one. Number 1 and number 2 overall selections are represented here

Gregg’s team:
Good offensive team – Miguel Cabrera says it all. Team speed is really slow through the middle of the lineup (4 4 speed guys) and fast at the top and bottom.
Good starting staff with decent ratings in the pen with plenty of available innings.
Team Defense is excellent. Cabrera as a 3 @ 3rd is only hole
Will the rookie playoff manager be the achilles heel for this team?

Chris’s team:
Best offensive team – well constructed with flexibility, power and speed throughout.
Below average starting staff without a super high graded rated reliever with moderate amount of innings available
Team Defense is below average and Navarro will start and play one entire game.
Will pitching and defense be the achilles heel for this team?

Oh boy, I would love to pick the first time playoff team – a great story. I will go with Chris in 6. Offense wins out

World Series:

Hmm. I say Chris in 7. I don’t know if he can top last year’s dramatic series vs Greg however I say Trout Series MVP (I know, go out on a limb and pick the best player…)

Just remember that anything can happen in these short series’ !
Good luck to all and I will see you in a few days
