#1 - New York - Ndamukong Suh DT 10 - Described regularly as a rolling ball of butcher knives. Not sure what that exactly means but it sounds cool and who would not want a guy who rates out a 10 in year one. #2 - Pittsburgh (via Las Vegas) - Maurkice Pouncey C 9 With the addition of Big Ben as part of the trade to move up to this spot the AFA Pittsburgh team starts to resemble the NFL team from Pittsburgh. #3- Hollywood Devin McCourty CB 9 Not a need position but hard to turn down a guy with a 9 rating playing who plays defence for New England #4 San Antonio - Joe Haden CB 8 Could see ILB 8 Derrick Johnson go here which would be the last piece in a good front 7 but help is needed in the secondary and Haden will hold down one spot for the next 10 years #5 Hollywood (via Krakow) - QB Mike Vick With neither Garrard or Cutler doing much in the NFL and Hollywood in need of a QB and a RB they get both in one pick #6 San Diego - WR Stevie Johnson If Haden gets this far he will be playing in San Diego, but since he is off the board, Johnson is the pick. Johnson will enjoy catching balls from Brady in sunny San Diego compared to catching balls from Ryan Fitzpatrick in windy and cold Buffalo #7 Las Vegas (via Pittsburgh) - Tyson Alualu DT 7 There are no DTs on the roster so better get started early. Tyson had a good first season and should be solid for years to come. #8 Minnesota - Charles Johnson DE 8 What's not to like about a DE who is 24 years old with double digit sacks? #9 Albuquerque - RB Lagarrette Blount ABQ has a solid roster and while a OLB is a need position there on none available worth this pick. Running behind a great o-line Blount may better his 5.0 average in the NFL #10 Denver - Eric Berry S7 With Jairus Byrd suffering through a sophomore slump, Denver invests another #1 pick on this position. Berry has the look of a young Brian Dawkins and has bright future #11 Krakow (via Hollywood, via Philly) - QB Sam Bradford Krakow cannot believe that Bradford is still on the board, I am a bit surprised myself. Bradford's slide stops here as Krakow gets a good young QB and solidifies a key position for years to come #12 Indy - WR Brandon Lloyd Indy needs a #1 WR and they find a guy with nearly 1,500 yards waiting for them at #12. #13 Arizona Mike Iupati OG 7 Frank Gore running behind Iupati in the NFL seems to work well so why not do the same in the AFA. Could also see a DE go off the board here. #14 Mexico City Carlos Dunlap DE 6 Could go with Jason Babin here but why not take a 21 year old instead of a 30 year old? Dunlap brings his 9 sacks to Mexico City which makes him the team leader. #15 Chicago Jason Babin DE 8 Currently has no DTs on the roster but if you are going to take a guy in his 30s why not take the guy with 12 sacks. The future is now for Chicago who is has been knocking on the door for years and is looking to breakthrough and capture its first Alt Bowl in 2011 #16 Hollywood (via Alaska) WR Dez Bryant There was something missing from Hollywood's 2010 season, and I am not talking about the playoffs. After having Randy Moss and Terrell Owens on the roster for the past decade there were no diva WRs creating drama. Hollywood fixes this problem by taking Bryant. Well that is it for round #1. We will see how close I was once we begin. I have a pretty good feeling about the first 3 picks after that, we shall see.
